I'm running Coin on my Win ten motorcar (2005 version i remember) but it needs a bit of fixing to get there and, of course, i can't quite remember how to do information technology simply a web search will bring up details of the fixes requires.
I do know that you need a file Money2005-Britain-QFE2.exe which has to be run immediately later on installation: information technology is a "prepare" that ways that Coin can load information from previous installations. Microsoft removed the prepare from their website for a fourth dimension and may well have dropped it once again. Information technology is out there though.

  • Thanks for your help guys. I have downloaded it now. Looks a flake different from the older version! Equally I am not wanting to import annihilation from my previous version, it seems I don't require the QFE2 file equally I will start afresh. I volition also put all entries in manually.

My PC doesn't have a floppy disk drive so I can't do a backup (other than on the hard disk drive). Notwithstanding, I have never had to answer on the backups previously (I remember I was running 5 floppy disks!).

Forget virtually floppy back-ups. If y'all haven't already got one buy a wink drive (32 GB) which would more than suffice for bankroll up your 'money' files. Something like this would exist ideal, and you can back up other stuff like photos , music likewise.

  • Forget about floppy back-ups. If you haven't already got one buy a flash bulldoze (32 GB) which would more suffice for backing up your 'money' files. Something like this would be platonic, and you lot can back up other stuff like photos , music every bit well.

You lot should make a addiction of regularly backing upwards your system and files with an external USB 3.0 2.5" portable hard drive like this ane. If you accept issues running Money Director in W7 try using Compatibility Fashion, meet this tutorial from Seven Forums: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html.

I have just looked at the 1 that Frank mentions and it looks similar to a retention stick. Does Money allow yous to dorsum up to that, it seemed it would only go to a floppy or the hard drive.

I am afraid, Evil'southward one looks more complicated for my unproblematic brain !!

  • I am setting upwardly Coin now. I am puttingin my regular SO / DD payments, but it is only letting me choose 'Write Check' equally the Payment Option. Previously it transferred it to the appropriate business relationship automatically (3 days before due), as a Debit payment. Tin can anyone propose how I can change this.

Yous should make a habit of regularly backing up your system and files with an external USB iii.0 2.5" portable difficult bulldoze like this one. If you have problems running Money Managing director in W7 try using Compatibility Mode, see this tutorial from Seven Forums: https://world wide web.sevenforums.com/tutorials/316-compatibility-mode.html.

Information technology'southward the same matter - 'wink drive', 'thumb bulldoze', 'memory stick',, etc.

To back up, you'll demand to know where your money files reside on your hard bulldoze, and what the file extensions are. On the flash drive make a new binder, eg, 'MoneyFiles, then only re-create them over to that folder. Alternatively, you could use Windows vii's 'BackUp and Restore' via the Command Panel, but it's more involved, and I'm not certain if that prog allows you to support to a flash drive every bit I never use information technology.

My version of Money is set up to automatically create a backup to a designated destination each time i close it, absolutely to a hard drive folder. (I then support the folder contents, probably not oft plenty, to an NAS using SyncToy).

Yes, mine backs up to the hard bulldoze. What is an NAS and Sync Toy ?

NAS = Network Fastened Storage. Basically a hard drive that is continued to your router using an ethernet cable making its files potentially available to all users of your network. At that place are varying levels of sophistication.
SyncToy is a freebie program issued by Microsoft but no longer supported. Equally with Money it requires some tweaking to work with Windows x. It ia a adequately basic backup tool for folders - other better programs are available merely this one works for me. I had information technology when it was supported past Microsoft and but carried information technology over.

I accept mine set to back up automatically to Onedrive on exit, this means I tin the load upwardly the file from the main PC or the laptop. I also support a copy every week to a flash drive. The money file is not very big then it uploads in seconds

Frank, I bought the Flash Drive as y'all suggested, and used the Backup and Restore, information technology took c.25gB of 32 bachelor to exercise the fill-in. I have now also backed upwardly onto it c:\users\Martin\Documents\My Money.mnv Is that sufficient?

  • Wow. A 25 GB Money file. That doesn't sound right. I have about 15 years worth of data in MS Money and my file is merely xviii MB. I think yous may be getting your Megs and Gigs mixed up.

I'm still using a 2004 copy of Money every bit I am yet to discover a suitable replacement just it would be nice to accept some more mod features. Perhaps the contempo Open Cyberbanking rules will encourage some innovation in this space.

No. I think I may not have made myself clear.. 25 Gb is the total backup using the Backup facility from the Control Console. My Money is 3424 kb.

I am using Money that I download that Television User suggested and information technology seems to exist working well.

Non quite sure what files you backed up in that location Martin, just I'm guessing you may have included the Windows vii system files which is not what should be backed upwards in this way.

Ideally Backup & Restore should simply exist used for data files, whereas Disk Imaging (an option under BUAR) is used to brand an epitome of Windows 7. In the possible outcome of not being able to boot upwards, or error messages popping upwards while booted, the disk image tin restore W7 to what it was before the trouble started.. Only problem is W7 won't allow yous to image to a wink drive, simply to an external HDD. If you're interested in how to paradigm your system to a flash drive and bypass the W7 restriction, let us know.
